Because of Rutgers University–Camden’s Premier Partnership with Camden County College, the Bridging the Gap program is now available to Camden County College transfer students who enroll in the following programs:

• On-campus bachelor’s degree programs at Rutgers–Camden.
• Rutgers–Camden degree-completion programs on the Camden County College Blackwood campus.

How It Works

The program (supplemented by the Garden State Guarantee) closes the gap between federal, state, and institutional sources of financial support and the balance of tuition and the campus/off-campus fee. Rutgers–Camden automatically applies the Bridging the Gap grant to remaining costs after any other need-based federal, state, and/or institutional grants have been applied (not including Federal Work-Study and federal student loans).

The amount of funding is based on family adjusted gross income (AGI).

• Adjusted Gross Income (AGI): $0-65,000
  • Students at this threshold will have an annual net cost (tuition and mandatory fees) of $0.
• Adjusted Gross Income (AGI): $65,001-80,000
  • Students at this threshold will have an annual net cost (tuition and mandatory fees) of no more than $3,000.
• Adjusted Gross Income (AGI): $80,001-100,000
  • Students at this threshold will have an annual net cost (tuition and mandatory fees) of no more than $5,000.

The student is responsible for any remaining tuition and the off-campus/campus fee and other fees after Bridging the Gap has been applied.

How to Apply

Applying for Bridging the Gap is easy.

1. Apply as a transfer applicant
2. Complete the FAFSA

There is no separate application for the program. Applicants who meet the criteria are automatically considered when they apply and are admitted for admission to Rutgers–Camden.

Who Is Eligible?

The program is open to residents of the State of New Jersey who are also U.S. citizens (or legal permanent U.S. residents) and graduate from Camden County College with an associate of science (A.S.), associate of arts (A.A.), or associate of fine arts (A.F.A.) degree, and meet Rutgers–Camden admission requirements. Students in online programs or second degree programs do not qualify for this program.

Camden County College Graduates

Students must meet the admission requirements of the academic program and enroll full time in a bachelor’s degree program on the Rutgers–Camden campus to be eligible to participate in the Bridging the Gap program.

Full-Time Eligibility

Bridging the Gap students will have four semesters (two years) of eligibility remaining in the program. 

To remain eligible for continuation in the Bridging the Gap program on an annual basis, students must complete the FAFSA every year and maintain the necessary academic progress as outlined in their program.

Rutgers at Camden County College in Blackwood

New students who enroll in Rutgers–Camden degree-completion programs offered on Camden County College’s Blackwood campus either full time or part time are eligible to participate in the Bridging the Gap program. Full-Time Eligibility

Bridging the Gap students who register full time will have four semesters (two years) of eligibility remaining in the program.

Part-Time Eligibility

Bridging the Gap students who register part time will have four semesters (two years) of eligibility remaining in the program prorated at their part-time rate. For example, if a student purses a degree on a part-time basis at the rate of 6 credits per semester, which would equate to 50 percent of the full-time registration, the student would have eight semesters (four years) of eligibility in the program at 6 credits per semester.
